Praxis adds capacity to meet growing customer needs

The trend for manufacturers to outsource packaging services has resulted in an influx of business for Praxis Packaging Solutions (Grand Rapids, MI). In turn, Praxis has taken measures to add to its capacity in order to meet its growing customer demands.

“We’re always working to improve the service we provide our customers. As a result, we’ve added new automation technologies that make our capacity, efficiencies and flexibility even greater than they were before”, said Scott Hanmer, Senior Vice President of Praxis Packaging Solutions.

To save costs and gain outside expertise, manufacturers in the consumer product, food, personal care, and pharmaceutical industries have continued to turn to contract packaging specialist companies like Praxis, who deliver the skilled labor, technology and quality control required in the packaging production process.  By outsourcing packaging services, these companies can focus more resources on their core business, while accessing the packaging skill and technology they need, when they need it.

This is good news for Praxis, who has seen its business grow exponentially over the last 12 months.  “Orders from long-term customers increase every year”, said Rick King, President of Praxis. “Plus, we’ve seen a dramatic rise in projects from customers who are new to Praxis.”

To meet new customer demands, Praxis has added new clamshell and blister packaging machines to its production floor as well as a third stretch pack machine. “This additional equipment has helped increase project capacity, expand capabilities, and create even more scheduling flexibility”, said Hanmer. “With this added automation, we’re now even better able to answer our customers’ packaging needs. No matter the deadline or project scope.”

According to the Contract Packaging Association, the contract packaging industry as a whole has doubled in growth since 2008. This growth is primarily due to increased activity coming from food and beverage, personal care, and pharmaceutical segments.
